V.3.I Class

V. Chart of Accounts (COA) Governance
Guide to Financial Operations

Class captures the Period of Probable Usefulness (PPU) for General Obligation (GO) Bonds.

Class is used on bond proceeds transactions where the PPU is needed to identify the life of GO Bonds. It is also used to identify taxable and tax-exempt GO bond spending and reimbursement transactions.

Class is considered a statewide ChartField, and as such has been configured under the SHARE SetID which means all agencies will be able to access the complete list of Class codes in SFS.

The Class ChartField is five alphanumeric digits in length. Class will identify the life of GO Bond proceeds as “PPU” followed by the number of years of life in the GO Bond series. Class will identify taxable and tax-exempt status of transactions for GO Bond spending and reimbursements as follows:

  • Taxable - Years of life in GO Bond series followed by “YTX”
  • Tax-Exempt - Years of life in GO Bond series followed by “YTE”

For additional instruction on this topic, visit the job aids published to SFS Coach. SFS Coach is accessible from the SFS home page after logging in with your SFS user ID and password. To add or modify a Class value, complete the COA Change Request Form and submit it to [email protected].
