Comptroller DiNapoli Releases Municipal Audits

New York State Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli today announced his office completed audits of the Village of Cambridge, Town of Fishkill, City of Mechanicville and the Ramapo Catskill Library System.

“In today’s fiscal climate, budget transparency and accountability for our local communities is a top priority,” said DiNapoli. “By auditing municipal finances and operations, my office continues to provide taxpayers the assurance that their money is being spent appropriately and effectively.”

Village of Cambridge – Payroll (Washington County)

Employees received compensation at pay rates that were not board-approved. In addition, nine employees did not receive the correct gross pay during the 2013-14 fiscal year and three employees did not receive the correct gross pay during the 2014-15 fiscal year. Furthermore, employees’ leave accrual records were not accurately maintained.

Town of Fishkill – Fiscal Stress – Audit Follow Up (Dutchess County)

The town has made some progress implementing corrective action. Of the five audit recommendations, two recommendations were fully implemented, one was partially implemented and two were not implemented.

City of Mechanicville – Records and Reports – Audit Follow Up (Saratoga County)

The city has made some progress in implementing previous audit recommendations. Of the ten audit recommendations, five recommendations were fully implemented, two were partially implemented and three were not implemented.

Ramapo Catskill Library System – Procurement (Rockland County)

Library system officials did not seek competition when making purchases on behalf of the system’s member public libraries. These purchases included 289 computers and 110 various computer accessories and warranties for member public libraries.
